  1. After the jack is led, I usually play the ace 
  2. unless the jack is holding and 
  3. 1.  I believe partner was playing from a
  4. doubleton*.  In this case I show a positive
  5. attitude.  If this suit is played again our
  6. side may well get a ruffing trick.
  7. 2. Declarer holds back the king or queen in
  8. dummy. Here I also show a positive attitude.

  10. *When partner leads the jack and the 10 is visible,
  11. partner either led from a doubleton or singleton.
  12. I play partner for the doubleton unless the dummy
  13. and I have too many cards in the suit to make
  14. a ruff on the third round work.

  16. Note: I usually lead from a doubleton only if I
  17. expect to get the lead again and work toward a ruff.
